Leading Is Challenging!

You know that scene in the Barbie movie where America Ferrera gives this moving monologue about how hard and contradictory it is to be a woman? I think of leadership and supervision similarly.

You have to inspire with big ideas but/and also make space for your team’s ideas. You have to delegate but/and not overwork your team. You have to give staff autonomy but/and accept responsibility for their failures. You have to be compassionate when people need slack but/and you have to then support the rest of the team picking up that slack. You have to be an awesome manager while still trying to get what you call “the actual work” done. It’s hard to manage these polarities! And it can be a wonderful ride with support.

We run experiments – all to improve both the quality of your interactions with others and your own work experience.
